Ender 3 XCR3D Titan Direct Drive
thingiverse
Made specifically for XCR3D Titan extruder version, a cost-effective clone that still packs a punch. This design is streamlined to ensure seamless alignment with the hotend. For optimal results, pair it with Pancake motors up to 25mm in size. Although some users have reported issues with thicker setups, rest assured that proper alignment will yield the desired outcome. In my case, I've successfully used this setup with 27mm motors, but for most users, 22mm is recommended due to the increased torque and reduced weight. When printing, use PETG or ABS filaments with a minimum of 4 shells and around 20% infill to maintain structural integrity while keeping the design lightweight. You can find a detailed video tutorial on this process at https://youtu.be/AmEaNAwFSfI?t=496. To achieve even better results, try printing with lower layer heights such as 0.12 - 0.16mm. This is demonstrated in another video at https://youtu.be/fbSQvJJjw2Q?t=666. While PLA filaments can be used, it's essential to run the motor at low voltage references to prevent overheating and maintain precise control. Failure to do so may result in deformation over time. Alternatively, you can attempt annealing, but this will alter the dimensions of the final product. When installing the extruder on the wheel mounts, be prepared for tight tolerances. To avoid damaging the inserts, heat them with a soldering iron before assembly. For more information on this process, visit https://www.lulzbot.com/learn/tutorials/heat-set-inserts-tips-and-tricks. To accommodate the PTFE tube, you'll need to extend it by approximately 80mm. The most efficient way to do this is to remove the hotend fan mount and the hotend itself, allowing for easier installation of the extruder above. Once in place, align the hotend holes with their original positions to determine the correct PTFE length.
