Ender 3 vinyl cutter mod
thingiverse
My first serious post here on Thingiverse, marking the beginning of my modeling journey from scratch! I credited Pascalmakes' Pen Holder as a remix, despite only needing the attachment that connects to the fan. Huge thanks are owed to him for creating an exceptional design! This innovative thing converts your Ender 3 into a versatile 3-axis cutter: effortlessly cutting vinyl, paper, and cardboard with precision. I envisioned this mod as a game-changer, allowing me to create my own stickers at home virtually for free. A comprehensive guide is included here to streamline the process for your first use, saving you hours of searching online for tutorials. I aimed to provide precise instructions, but please notify me if errors or omissions are discovered – I'll correct them promptly! Now, let's dive into it! **UPDATE - 9/2/2020** After conducting several experiments with cutting vinyl stickers, I've gathered valuable insights to enhance your experience: 1. Cut on a sturdy surface; an acrylic square slab is ideal, and can be trimmed to fit your printer's hotbed. 2. Secure the media onto the acrylic plate using repositionable spray glue – it won't damage the vinyl sheet and keeps everything flat, wrinkle-free. 3. Ensure the cutting tip doesn't protrude beyond half a credit card's thickness from the black "cap." To verify this, gently rub your finger on the hole; it should barely feel the blade!
