Ender 3 Stepper Lead Screw Coupler - Goes over the press fit pulley

I wanted the reuse my ender 3 steppers to build The 100, so I attempted to remove the press-fit pulleys with a few printed models, shear force, and heat. None of that got the pulleys to even budge.
