Ender 3 Standalone Display with Raspberry mount
cults3d
With a Pi-Cam mounted at the right of the X-Gantry the display of my Ender3 stood in the way by some Millimeters and I decided to put it on a standalone mount. And since I had put an old raspi 2b in charge of controlling that new cam there was a need for some mount option for that as well. So I put those two together. My intention was not to hide the fact that there is a raspi there, just to keep it from flying around among the tools I keep at the right of the printer so there is no top to cover the little board (but you can one there if you want, 3 holes for M3 screws are supplied.) The front also has holes for 2 M4 screws (and nuts recommended) to hold the display frame fixed. Not absolutely needed, it will hold and feel stable w/o, but better to have them. The mount is designed to fit with a 90° micro usb plug but I'm still waiting for it's delivery so I currently power the raspi with 5V and ground supplied via the pins.Update: cable arrived and fits nicely, ugly pic added. This is a remix of Ender 3 Stand Alone Display Holder by Bjern and it was very helpful to have the Raspberry Pi 3 Reference Design Model available. The parent looks really elegant but the design has a drawback: as the finger pressing the control knob now doesn't point top-down but rather pushes forward the display tends to slide backwards. I used some anti-slip mesh glued under the mount to give it a better standing. The larger base of this display mount makes that even more effective. FreeCAD source is included and partially parametric so you can easily move the screw sockets by simply changing two offsets in the spreadsheet if the space for the usb cable is to narrow. Print it with fine resolution (for the gradual slopes) and up to 30% infill for better stability. It took 4,5 hours to print here with PLA and minimum 2 perimeters.
