Ender 3 Spool Shifter
thingiverse
This bracket shifts the spool forward by 4cm, centering it on the top rail. Unhappiness with both the power supply and filament spool pulling verticals rearward created unnecessary stress where they meet the base. This mod provides better balance for the frame. Getting the spool off the top rail entirely is another option which improves the filament path, but space limitations made it an unideal solution for me. You will need (2) M5 12mm bolts and (2) M5 nuts to complete this project. The nuts slide into the side and may be a tight fit, but they seat well and align with round holes. Print it on-end; depending on how well your printer bridges, you may not need support. If you do need support, use as little as possible because it is difficult to remove from round holes and rectangular channels. I used the rail connector design from MWizard64's Ender 3 spool mount, which he reworked for easier sliding. Many designs that slide into rails are too tight for my liking; all other aspects of this design are new.
