I've got some extra wide filament spools that are prone to getting stuck on the nut, and I'm not a fan of them sitting directly on the rod either. So, I came up with a longer rod design, bigger nuts, and a spacer/bushing combo to fill in the gap between the roll and the rod. Make sure to print out two nuts and two spacers for this fix. Since different filament brands come in various sizes, you'll want to have some extra large spacers on hand as well. I recently made an update to this design that lets me easily identify which size spacer I'm grabbing, so I added the measurement to the side of each one. Later on, I decided to add a new shaft version with more threads on one end. This should make it easier to manage narrower filament spools and prevent them from getting stuck on the nut.
