Ender 3 spinning spool modification
thingiverse
This is an adapter that converts a standard Ender 3 spool holder to make it spin smoothly. It was designed to maintain compatibility with the original hardware, ensuring seamless integration with all types of spools. To assemble this adapter, you'll need a pair of 608 bearings and a threaded rod. I used a 5/16" rod cut to 14cm (5.5"), along with two matching nuts. Notably, the 5/16" rod fits perfectly inside a 608 bearing, making it an ideal choice for this project. You can purchase a 12" 5/16 - 18 tpi rod from a hardware store like The Home Depot for $1.30. This adapter also includes a customizer feature, allowing you to adjust the design according to your specific spool holder dimensions or threaded rod size. Before printing, make sure to verify your spool holder's dimensions as Creality often updates their parts. I printed this adapter using 60% infill, no supports, and a quality setting of 0.2mm. To print all the parts, you'll need approximately 30g of filament. Since the strength comes from the rod, you can save PLA by printing with minimal material.
