Ender 3 S1/S1 Pro Hot Bed Cable Strain Relief
thingiverse
So My S1 Pro hot bed cable fried on me while trying to utilize the entire bed. When the Bed is all the way forward (towards me) the cable that goes into the base housing is super tight and apparently after a few days of printing like this caused one of the internal wires (the black 14 AWG stranded) to break. The wires visible were not shiny and there was sparking going on which melted the white inner insulation sheath. Creality is sending a replacement hot bed but it was kind of a scare as had I not been there, there could have possibly been more damage or fire or whatever. In light of all that I designed this cable relief type of deal to basically not allow the cable to bend so sharply and have a more graduated bend. Installation Instructions: Print the cable relief out of whatever material you prefer to, I used PLA as it was a prototype and so far has held up great. add some industrial strength double sided sticky tape to the flat side of the printed part or I guess you could super glue it on, there is still access to the hole the cable goes into the base housing in case you need to replace the hot bed in the future. place the cable relief on top of the black bed wire right at the base of the machine while pushing down firmly (towards table) to snug the wire and back to secure it to the base housing using your preferred (tape or glue) method.... add 2 zip ties My cable runs in the groove of the printed part pretty smoothly with it installed vertically. You may want to just hold it there and move the bed by hand to find an angle that works for you before installing mounting tape.
