Ender 3 Pro Y axis motor mount
thingiverse
This is a Y-axis motor mount for Ender3 Pro. The stock mount requires an idler pulley, which has direct belt-teeth - unteethed pulley contact. This can cause 2mm vertical lines artifact on Y axis of the prints. This mount raises the Nema 17 motor a bit, eliminating the need of an idler pulley. Additionally, it is possible to twist the belt 180 degrees inside 4040 Y axis profile, so that the belt goes with the flat side on the front idler pulley. Together, this can reduce the vertical lines on Y axis considerably. Note that this mount reduces the clearance between the print bed and the motor. Still, stiffer springs or silicone spacers should work well, as long as the bed screws are not tightened until the very end and the springs are not squashed. This mount is designed for 20 teeth motor pulley. This is the default on Ender 3 Pro. ## Additional hardware It is recommended to use 4 m5 15mm screws to attach this mount to the Y axis profile, but a bit longer or shorter screws will work too. Stock Ender 3 Pro screws may be a bit too short. Also, 4 m4 nylon washers can be used for stepper motor screws, but this is optional. Tweezers may be helpful for assembly. ## Assembly procedure If you use a non-stock stepper motor with a movable toothed pulley, attach the motor to the mount (no need to screw it in) and adjust the position of the pulley such that it is symmetric with the belt hole on the 4040 extrusion side. Tighten the pulley on the motor shaft. It is much easier to align the pulley when the mount is not yet attached to the printer. Insert 4 m5 screws. Pass the belt trough the middle hole on the 4040 extrusion side and pull it up. Screw the mount to the 4040 extrusion using the allen key holes. Next, insert bottom 2 m3 stepper motor screws. Attach the motor to the mount and partially tighten the 2 screws. Insert the remaining 2 screws and tighten all screws. Insert the belt into the bed mount plate. The assembly is complete. Optionally, detach the belt on the front from the bed mount plate. Rotate it 180 degrees inside the 4040 aluminium extrusion so that it touches the front idler with the flat side. Reinsert the belt into the mount plate.
