I get so frustrated when my printer heats up, homes X, Y & Z, and does an auto bed level, only to end up with a big glob of filament on the nozzle just waiting to ruin my first layer! So I made this simple brush mount to clean the hotend before printing. The brush is just a cheap nylon parts brush (available at most dollar stores) with the handle cut off. A small drop of hot glue holds the brush in place. The left edge of the brush starts at X-100, and the right side ends up at X-130. Here's what I added to my starting G-code script: Add this just after the G29 (mesh level) and before any nozzle purge. M117 Nozzle Scrub G1 X100 Y2 Z3.89 F5000 G1 X130 F5000 G1 Y0 F5000 G1 X100 F5000 G1 Y2 F5000 G1 X130 F5000 G1 Y0 F5000 G1 X100 F5000 You may need to adjust your Z height from my settings. Just jog the hotend over to the brush using the panel or slicer and adjust your Z height until the bristles just wipe the nozzle, not the hotend itself. Write down the Z height on the display panel and adjust the Z command in the second line of the script accordingly.
