Ender 3 Filament Spool Side Mount
thingiverse
This updated spool mount shifts the spool to the lower side position on the printer, enabling optimal filament routing into the extruder for improved performance. To maximize structural integrity, I designed this model with 4 T slots that provide maximum strength. You will need to secure it using 2x M5x12 screws and 2x M5 hex nuts. Alternatively, you can use M5 T nuts if you insert a shim between the nut and pocket wall to prevent rotation while tightening the screw. I initially tested version 1 on my Ender 3 but encountered excessive force required for installation. The latest version 2 addresses these issues with updated T detail geometry and increased corner clearance for better fitment in the slots. As of this post, I have not printed version 2 yet, and I'm eager to receive feedback. To install it correctly, face the nut pockets towards the front of the printer so that the spool sits at a safe distance from your work surface.
