Ender 3 Filament Sensor and Chain Mount

Ender 3 Filament Sensor and Chain Mount

thingiverse

This is a filament sensor mount, filament guide, and cable chain mount all in one for the Ender 3 printer. I've modified this filament sensor design to accommodate a bowden tube that will guide the filament through it. To begin with, use either the default ender 3 bowden tube or some capricorn tubing like I did, and drill out the inside to make it slightly larger to reduce drag. After inserting it, cut out the opening in the middle for the roller switch using a sharp x-acto knife. The tube should be tight enough to stay securely in place. For the chain mount, I used two 10mm M3 bolts that I had as spare from my Ender 3 printer. The holes are self-tapping, so everything should be tightly secured when you finish. I'm using the cable chain from this design, which I prefer over the original design with the gantry chain just hanging partway up. My design is significantly stronger, sturdier, and looks cooler! I've mounted 22 chain links for the gantry chain, as my electronics are installed in the back, making the cables a bit longer than default. The roller microswitch is simply a generic one that you can find anywhere on Amazon or eBay. The only part requiring support while printing is the sensor mount's attachment to the Z-axis bolt.
