Ender-3 Filament Guide
thingiverse
Hello Everyone, I recently acquired an Ender-3 3D printer, and I noticed that the threaded screw rod is incredibly close to the filament input port of the extruder drive feed. In fact, it's so close that the rod often touches the grease from time to time. To resolve this issue, I designed a Filament guide with a guard for the screw rod. This design was inspired by one found online for the Ender-2 and may also fit the Ender-2 model. I'm not entirely sure if it will work on the Ender-2 since I don't have one to test it on, but feel free to try it out and share your experience with others. The guide was printed in yellow to make it stand out in the picture, but I'm re-printing it in black for my personal use. Update: After completing this project at 3 AM and taking a closer look after some rest, I realized that the overhang didn't quite meet my expectations. To address this issue, I created three different versions of the filament guide. The last version is an alternative to the coffee cup design, and I've left the first one up because it will be used on my CR-10 S500. When installing the guide, please note that over-tightening the two screws can bind the rod, so make sure it moves freely. I adjusted the square version by increasing the hole size to improve fitment. After testing all versions on my printer, they seem to fit well. I added a slotted version due to feedback from users who experienced issues with the original design. However, based on my research, this problem seems to be specific to the older Ender-3 model. If you're experiencing difficulties, I recommend trying the other versions or reaching out for assistance. Update: Further investigation revealed that the older Ender-3 version indeed requires a different T8 nut, which doesn't fit the original design. To address this issue, I created version 4 specifically for the older unit. Additionally, I've ordered another Ender-3 and obtained an older model to test the fit. To simplify things, I've added a universal version that should accommodate both the newer and older Ender-3 models.
