Ender 3 extruder feeder assembly spring tension fix
thingiverse
A small shim is used to cover the lug that secures the spring in place on the extruder feeder assembly, thereby increasing tension within the spring and preventing underextrusion. Similar designs exist elsewhere, however, when printed they often resulted in a hole too small to fit over the lug securing the spring. It's possible a redesign occurred at some point. These shims can be mounted either on the extruder feeder assembly arm or plate, or both. Four different sizes are included: 0.5mm, 1mm, 1.5mm, and 2mm. After installation, avoid over-tightening the bolt holding the arm in place. It must remain loose for proper function. Excessive tightness may cause the arm to squeak or drag on the bottom plate. In a properly adjusted system, the only resistance felt should come from the spring itself.
