Ender 3 Extruder Fan Duct
thingiverse
I wanted a minimalistic extruder fan duct for an Ender 3 that allows good line of sight to the nozzle. I never use print cooling fans so there was no need to integrate that. The first one V0P3 was designed to attach to the extruder plate via the lower left fan housing screw. The small tab will rest on the top of the heat brake. This version allows the standard axial 40mm fan to screw right to the face of the duct. I found this setup to be noisy as the axial 40 mm fan moves way more air than the heat brake needs. This can be printed without supports if you place the flange which the fan attaches to on the build plate. Next I made the V0P3 adaptor that lets you use the standard part cooling fan (centrifugal) to cool the heat brake. The adaptor attaches to the duct with the same 4 screws as the axial fan would and the centrifugal fan was attached to the adaptor via double sided tape. I ran this setup for months with good results. The next evolution V2P1 was a single piece duct that allows you to attach the centrifugal fan directly to it via double sided tape or glue. This one needs supports any way you orient it. The last (for now) version V3P0 has a flat face to attach the centrifugal fan to. You will have to reuse the stock part cooling duct to divert the air into the extruder duct. This version also requires supports. All parts are my original design via FreeCad. Any feed back or suggestions are welcome. Enjoy!
