I combind a cable clip + filament runout sensor with a bit of a guide. This will only really work for Ender 3's that have been converted to a direct drive extruder. I used this filament sensor: https://www.amazon.ca/URBEST-Momentary-Hinge-Roller-Switches/dp/B00MFRMFS6/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=filament+limit+switch&qid=1601749892&sr=8-2 The filament doesn't move through it quite as smoothly as I'd like, so I may still tweak it.
