NOT A FULL DIRECT DRIVE CONVERSION. This part significantly reduces the length of the Bowden tube giving the extruder much greater control of the filament due to less friction. This modification uses ONLY stock parts, NO additional hardware is required. To install: Ensure printer is powered off. Remove connection from from the extruder motor. Remove the four (4) screws attaching the extruder motor to the Z-Axis bracket. Remove the two (2) top wheels and two (2) metal spacers on the hot-end carriage. Slide the two (2) fasteners through the bracket and then reinstall the wheels. Next, take the extruder motor and set it in place with the shaft facing the rear of the printer. The hole is a slight interference fit. With support on the back face of the bracket, press the motor into place. Fully insert the Bowden tube into the hot-end and mark the tube at the midpoint of the opening on the bracket, then remove the tube. Cut the Bowden tube to length and re-insert it into the hot-end. Insert the top of the tube into the Bowden end of the tension mechanism. Finally, screw the tension mechanism into place and reinsert the extruder connection. Cable manage to your liking and happy printing! *It is recommended to adjust acceleration, jerk and speed settings due to the increased mass on the Y-axis*
