Update: Added a wire mount by @bhuynh2012 from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3909083. The top part of the wire mount can also be found there. I chose this initial design because it doesn't take away any Z space compared to some other versions that have the motor at a 90-degree angle. The mounting holes are made bigger to fit the round metal spacers on the carriage. For me, they fit perfectly. A bit of force was required with some pliers to push the metal spacers in place, but overall it's a nice snug fit. Some fillets were added to ease out some sharp corners. Print orientation is shown on the pictures. Now I use retraction settings of 0.2mm and it seems to work fine. Already better results with stringing than I had before I switched to this mod. A cable fixture somewhere could be useful.
