Ender 3 customized electronics enclosure
thingiverse
I wanted to relocate my electronics off the working platform while still utilizing my display add-on by ColdCanuck, which features a card reader attached. I imported Usuariu's electronics box into Tinkercad and rotated it so that the card reader was positioned at the back, then added some holes and reinforcement to the new front for the display. I sealed up the old wire opening and included a side hole for wiring as well as a top hole for the ribbon cable from the LCD controller. With this setup, you can attach the LCD to the front and route the wires through the top to connect them to the motherboard, then drape the card reader cable to the back and plug it in there. The assembly can be placed on the PSU or attached in some way to create a single electronics control unit. I will update the pictures as I work and redesign it as needed for the power supply housing. I remixed the file to move the LCD up by about 3mm, creating more room for the back cover to clear the original case top that I am currently using. Further updates are coming as I figure things out and possibly receive suggestions on the rest. I have also included a lid with a pass-through for the display cable and an opening for an 80mm fan in this remix of Usuariu's lid, featuring a hole added and a notch filled in.
