Ender 3 cover for a quieter fan
thingiverse
The cover fits perfectly onto the board housing of my Creality Ender 3 printer and can be easily mounted as a direct replacement for the original cover. The tiny fan inside the housing is incredibly noisy, which is why I designed this custom cover to utilize a larger, quieter fan. This new fan measures 80x80x10mm and operates at 24V. What's more, the replacement cover provides ample space for an external SD slot module and USB extension, both of which were essential components in my setup due to the MKS Gen L board I use. The MKS board lacks a built-in SD slot and requires an external one, while its USB connector is not ideally positioned when mounted on the Ender printer. To resolve this issue, I opted for a USB extension cable. There's also a second version of the cover without space for either the USB or SD slot. The fan and SD slot are designed to clamp securely in place with just a gentle touch of pressure. If they don't fit snugly, you can easily glue them into position. With the new fan in place, printing at night is now much more comfortable due to its significantly reduced noise level.
