Ender 3 Controller Mount
thingiverse
I designed this piece with the goal of being able to pull my controller away from the printer itself without any issues. After researching various options, I decided to create one of my own design instead. The holes on the front are threaded to match the size of the default screws that attach the controller to the frame of the printer, so no additional hardware is needed. To further enhance flexibility, I purchased a longer 10-pin cable to connect the controller, allowing me to pull it farther away from the machine while standing comfortably. The cable I selected works perfectly and can be found below. 10-pin cable: https://amzn.to/2V1vNTT I highly recommend printing this piece with the screw holes facing downwards and a 50% or more infill for added weight and stability. Printing at 20% infill resulted in a flimsy feel that didn't hold up well under normal use. To ensure successful prints, I also used supports for the areas where the build plate was being touched, which added significant time to the printing process but was worth it as my initial three attempts were unsuccessful. For additional stability and ease of use, I modeled in spots for rubber feet that can be purchased on Amazon. Rubber feet: https://amzn.to/2yC82dw. To further conceal the unsightly rainbow cable, I've also purchased a cable wrap available here: https://amzn.to/2UHZJFE, but this is ultimately up to individual preference.
