Ender 3 Case for MKS Gen 1.4 board
thingiverse
The MKS Gen 1.4 board stretches significantly beyond the stock Ender 3 board, preventing it from fitting snugly into the stock enclosure. The enclosure protrudes slightly forward but positions the standoffs accurately to attach the MKS board securely. It repurposes the stock cooling fan (which isn't working effectively in the OEM case) and places it on the front panel facing downwards towards the stepper drivers. A protective cover is unnecessary for the vent. The Type B USB connection is routed to the front panel via a right-angled cable, while the longer cable must be coiled within the case. One option is to simply push the cable through the hole in the case and let it dangle freely. Alternatively, one could use the Type A to Type B cable provided with the MKS board and allow it to hang out the front (or connect directly to an Octopi). The lid of the enclosure does not screw down securely; instead, I secure it using cellophane tape, which prevents loose items from falling into the case. The tape serves its purpose effectively. The original case features a tab extending out the back for anchoring purposes. Due to space constraints on the Ender 3, I omitted this feature and attached the case at the front, allowing it to rest on a desk or workbench top while supporting the printer. Caution is warranted if the printer needs to be lifted or moved for any reason.
