Ender 3 Case Control Board MKS Gen L with 4988 steppers - Raspberry Pi 3B - LM2596
thingiverse
I was searching for a control box that would perfectly fit my MKS GEN L, Raspberry Pi 3B and a Buck Converter (LM2596) in place, while still allowing me to easily connect a USB cable to both the MKS GEN L and the Raspberry Pi. Since I couldn't find such a box, I decided to create it on my own as my very first Fusion360 project. In addition, I wanted to incorporate a cable chain connection for the heated bed into the design, replacing the cableChain_40MountSide from the cable chain at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2920060. The left control box also features an opening in the bottom that allows you to feed through a cable to the PiCam. I have personally printed and fitted this control box myself, and I'm pleased to report that all of its components fit snugly together. If your Ender-3 has the connection for the stepper motor cable located on the bottom, you will need to unscrew the stepper motor and turn it so that the connection is at the back, out of the way of the cover. Please be aware that if you are using TMC2130 or TMC2208 stepper drivers, this box may be too low to accommodate cables on top of the stepper drivers and a fan above it. Even with heat sinks, these larger components can cause issues. For a larger box and a case fan positioned to the side, I recommend checking out my other version at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3508238. If you are planning to switch to the new SKR V1.3 32-bit board, be sure to check out my modification for that board at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3558321. The Fusion360 file is included with this design.
