Ender 3 Cable Chain Mount for Bondtech Extruder
thingiverse
This is a straightforward cable chain mount designed for my Ender 3, which comes equipped with a Bondtech BMG extruder. I created this project because none of the available designs on Thingiverse seemed to be compatible with Bondtech's official mount design that flips the stepper motor onto its side. Some of the designs featuring a cable chain attached to the hotend might have worked, but I didn't need or want that extra chain. I repurposed this design from jburkhardt0's work, which was initially intended to fit under the stepper motor in its default orientation. By mirroring it across the z-axis and adding some recesses for the cable chain, I managed to create a mount that fits perfectly above the stepper motor and attaches to the cable chain more securely. This design works well with the standard mounting screws, but using slightly longer screws provides an even more secure fit. I also created a stronger version of this mount, featuring thicker cable mounting points and reduced flex under the weight of the cable. When in use, this mount can cause the cable and cable chain to interfere with the filament path. To solve this issue, I designed an extended filament guide specifically for the Bondtech extruder (4). Keep in mind that this mount raises the cabling significantly higher than usual. Your hotend cabling should be long enough to reach in all cases, but you may need to adjust the X-axis stepper and end-stop cables to exit the chain a little earlier. In my case, these cables exit three links before the end. 1. Bondtech Kit with Mount for Ender 3 2. Ender 3 Z Cable Chain Bracket 3. Ender 3 Cable Chain 4. Bondtech BMG Extended Filament Guide
