An Ender 3 spool holder keeps filament from grinding down the existing holder and lets the spool roll smoothly. You'll need four 624 ball bearings and some glue (epoxy works best) to hold the halves together if they don't snap fit. If clips are slipping, attach them to the holder with double-sided tape. With this setup, the spool moves so smoothly that I often didn't even notice it moving most of the time - no vibrations, no sounds, no jerking. Print in 0.2mm layers with 2mm walls and a support structure.
