I was handed a massive PLA spool that kept falling off my Ender 2's standard holder, so I crafted a straightforward extender that snaps into one end of the standard holder. Just pull out the nut from the end of the standard holder and slide in the extension (refrain from snickering at the back). It features tiny 'grabber' protrusions near the smaller tube's end to keep it firmly in place if you give it a quick tap. All it takes is a twist to remove when using regular width filament spools.
