Ender 2 Case and Base Plate for SKR 1.3 and MKS Gen L
cults3d
I've had some requests for the base plate and top cover for the Ender 2 printer to fit the SKR 1.3 and MKS Gen L boards. Here you go. Print the top cover with the front face facing downward on the bed. and you shouldn't need supports for the USB and SD card slot. I have updated the files to include a top cover and display adapter for a BigTree Tech TFT24 v1.1 touch screen / 12864 dual mode display. I have also added the ability to mount a Raspberry Pi SBC to the top of the top cover. As soon as I get finished printing I will post photos. I have updated the base plates slightly to account for the lengths of the screws that attach to the aluminum extrusion using the 3 T nuts and I have added a new mount for the case cooling fan that will be much easier to mount as the nuts are captured. Also when putting my Ender 2 back together with the SKR board I couldn't make enough room for the power leads to go into the connector on the board without hitting the cover standoff. So I moved both of the rear standoffs and the case cooling fan mount back 10 mm to make enough room for the wires. I also modified the top covers included in the models to accommodate the moving of the standoffs. I have also maintained the original hole positions to allow for the use of the stock base plate in the event that you want to upgrade to the SKR Mini E3 board. I have slightly modified the position of the display to ensure the clearance of the bed as it moves forward in the Y axis. There is VERY LITTLE room between the left edge of the bed and the display case. Make sure you have your printer assembled correctly. You will also notice the addition of the mounting hole for the original Ender 3 power switch. Although there are not pins on the SKR board to support the switch, you can easily insert the switch into the circuit using the POSITIVE lead coming from the power supply into the board. UPDATE: I have added a cover to go over the hole in the TFT24 display case where the Raspberry Pi may be mounted. This will keep small prints from falling into the machine when you take them off the bed. I have also created a cover that will allow you to install a fan to blow directly down onto the stepper drivers on the board. It uses a 4010 fan. Be sure to get the companion print that will allow you to mount a filament runout sensor to go along with your SKR 1.3 or MKS Gen L board. UPDATE: 04/12/2020 I have updated the files to include a display cover for the BIGTREETECH TFT35 E3 display, so now you have your choice of displays on an Ender 2.
