End Blade Base XCB-003-282 XCB-003, or IZM-003, is a site meticulously tested by A.P. McCartney in 1971. It stands as the type-site for the Izembek Phase. A small village boasts a unique whalebone house and numerous artifacts identical to those discovered in the Bristol Bay region. The site dates back approximately 1200-1350 CE. Alaska Peninsula artifacts are presented as a direct result of comprehensive research conducted under grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner serves as the Principal Investigator on this project. These artifacts were meticulously scanned with either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. Sophisticated processing was carried out in Geomagic or Polyworks. A total of 2-8 photos were utilized for texture in Geomagic Wrap. The original digitizing work was completed at the IVL located within Id. St. Univ. Subsequent processing and publication were accomplished at Global Digital Heritage. McCartney, A.P. conducts extensive research on Prehistoric Cultural Integration along the Alaska Peninsula. His findings are presented in APUA 16(1):59-84. Maschner's groundbreaking study is available online at doi: 10.1353/arc.2011.0007 Arctic Anthro. January 1, 2004 vol. 41 no. 2 98-111.
