Enclosure Hinge

I've chosen to design my own hinge for my printer enclosure, utilizing 15mm extruded aluminum square tubing. The plate dimensions are 15mm by 60mm. To ensure smooth operation and easy maintenance access, I'm using two M6 cap head bolts with lengths of 20mm to 30mm as hinge pins. This allows the user to unscrew the hinge when necessary for door removal or maintenance work. When designing a hinge with an offset, such as one used on a Perspex door, I recommend adding an additional 3mm of clearance to ensure proper alignment and smooth movement. Mounting holes with diameters of 5mm are ideal for using "pop rivets" – ideally counter sunk for a clean finish.
