Enclosure for Mendel Prusa printer
thingiverse
The preliminary design for a standard Mendel Prusa printer aims to combine the printer, PSU, RAMPS controller, and LCD+keypad into one box. The printer should be easily removable from the top bar unscrewed section. High visibility is achieved through surrounding plexiglass windows. Easy access to print platforms and end-stops is provided by hinged front flaps and semi-attached back flaps. The design maximizes air tightness for contained ABS fumes and stable temperature control while avoiding toxic cooling for PSU and controllers. A spindle holder with multi-extruder/spindles option is integrated, keeping in mind standard wood pieces and plexiglass. FreeCAD was used to create the design. The shopping list includes a 50x50 multiplex baseplate, 100x100 plexiglass sheet, piano hinge (50 cm), 20x30 beam (3M), 10x35 wood (around 6m), 10x50 wood (1m), a 30x60 wood handle bar (50cm), and assorted wood screws and epoxy glue for plexiglass on wood.
