Enclosed Optical Endstops for Ender 5 Plus Dual Z
thingiverse
These are enclosed optical endstop mounts and triggers for the Ender 5+ and a matching strain relief for the heated bed. Why optical endstops? Because they are fairly accurate with a high amount of repeatability and are faster to use than probing the left and right sides of the bed back and forth. It also allows the carriage of the bed to be trammed to the frame on each homing which is desirable, a probe will only tram the bed to the gantry and not the frame. The endstops are mounted underneath the top frame that holds the Z axis linear rods. Placement for the endsrtops and enclosure is approximately underneath the rear pillow blocks that hold the rods. The triggers are tension fit to the LMK10LUU bearing housing for fine adjustment. It is extremely important to make sure the left and right endstops trigger at the same height relative to the frame and not the bed or X axis gantry to avoid binding on the leadscrews. You can do this by using calipers to measure the distance between the carriage that holds the bed and the frame that holds the rods on each side so that left and right are equal distance. Once the carriage is properly trammed, you can use a multimeter and 5V power supply connected to the endstops to read the current when they are triggered so that each side is triggered at the same voltage by moving the triggers up and down slightly, or you can just trial and error it homing the bed and making small adjustments and then remeasuring each time. These have 2mm walls and since nothing is load bearing, filament choice doesn't mater with the exception that it should block at least some IR light. The mounts for the cover should be printed with 100% infill or thick walls since it's pretty thin. The triggers however can be printed with a 20% infill or whatever you feel comfortable with. The parts are designed not to need supports, you will of course need to properly orientate the STLs. There is a small slit at the end of the enclosure to allow 24 AWG 3P wire to pass through. Enclosures and mounts for the endstops should not be mirrored, rather printed identically and simply rotated 180 degrees for installation. The endstops I used are from MakerHawk, but most of them have identical dimensions. The hardware you will need: M4x20mm bolts X3 M4 Nylock Nuts X3 M3x10mm Bolts or M3x12mm with washers X4 M3 T-Nuts X4 M2x6mm X8 You don't need nuts for the M2 bolts as the holes are self threading.
