The Ranque-Hilsch vortex tube separates a compressed gas into hot and cold streams. The gas emerging from the hot end can reach temperatures of 200 °C, and the gas emerging from the cold end can reach −50 °C. It has no moving parts.The cold stream's relative humidity is lowered dramatically, while the hot stream goes through another cycle of cooling to reduce the relative humidity. There is a heat shield between the heatsinks and the Ranque-Hilsch vortex tube to reduce unnecessary heating of outside surface.This concept has the capability to reduce 12,000ppmV to <100ppmV with no additional electrical input.For more information about the Ranque-Hilsch vortex tube, please view educational youtube video linked below
