I wanted to craft a custom shelf for my speaker and discovered that EMT Tubes are an affordable option, priced at just $3.37 per 10-foot length. This led me to design a unique system based on the principles of damping sinusoidal waves. The decay curves I used provide a precise balance of support, ensuring stability and durability. I opted for 18mm Tubes, also known as "half inch" tubes, which offered the perfect combination of strength and flexibility. However, cutting these tubes proved to be a challenge due to their rigidity. To mitigate this issue, I designed custom caps that cover any imperfections in the cuts. For cutting the tubes, I initially used a miter saw with a metal blade, but looking back, a tubing cutter might have been a better choice. To further reinforce the structural integrity of the shelf, I incorporated .4 inch tubes around the screw holes, providing additional support to the surrounding walls.
