EMT Pole Holder 3/4" ID
thingiverse
I sought an improved solution to secure my sun shade supports, which are inexpensive 3/4" EMT poles that can be easily removed for winter or when a different deck arrangement is needed without the shade. I utilized cut-out blocks of 2x4 and 4x4 lumber, but they were prone to splitting due to wear from the elements. To address this issue, I designed these components with a slight 1 degree deflection, allowing them to compensate for the bend that occurs when attaching the shade (the base STL deflects to the right - simply mirror it for a left deflection). While I have not yet tested their performance in more extreme situations, printing them in PETG ensures they will be resistant to UV damage. A #8 screw is recommended; a #9 screw also fits, albeit slightly loosely.
