Employee Badge Holder

thingiverse

Please note: This is my first Thingiverse project, so I hope I'm doing this correct... Not sure if my design here is truly a remix, as I did not modify the files from the 2 sources I listed, but I have no problem giving some credit for inspiration I got from other users. I'm new to 3D printing and wanted to test my skills, and those designs served as the inspiration for a custom badge holder that suited my preferences better. My design here was completely done from a blank template in TinkerCAD, without copying or using dimensions from the sources I listed. (I used my own work badge for all measurements and dimensions.) I really liked (2810500) because the honeycomb pattern gave me the idea that I could embed my company's logo (or any other image) into the backside of the holder, and I really liked (867049) because of the angled frame design that I thought would hold the badge in securely. However, after my initial testing with the angled side frames, my badge held secure around the bottom and side edges, but was very loose along the top, so I experimented with wedges and dots to add tension and physical barrier to prevent my badge from sliding around and accidentally falling out. Here's what ultimately worked best for me. I am including 3 files: 1. "1_Badge_DotWedge" - A simple, complete badge holder, with the "dot" for backside tension and the "wedge" as a topside barrier. 2. "2_Badge_JustWedge" - This file is so that if you want to import an SVG file of your company logo (simple designs work best), you can center the image into the design, make it a "hole" in TinkerCAD or whatever, and cut/emboss it in. 3. "3_DotToAdd" - This is for those of you that may use #2 above to engrave/emboss an image into the backside of the holder. If you do, you can add this dot afterwards to increase the pressure on the back of your badge for additional support. My company logo made it difficult to place this in the exact middle, so you may also want to have the ability to move the "dot" somewhere else in the design. So, ouila! I suppose my personal work badge is a universal size, but for reference, my badge is 54mm (w) x 85.5mm (h) x 1mm (thickness). If you have questions or feedback, I'd love to hear it!
