Emperor Lei Shen, famously known as the Thunder King, was the initial emperor of the mogu race. After seizing storm power from the titanic observer Ra, he unified various mogu clans into the first great mogu empire. Known for his combat prowess to even overpower an August Celestial, none could hinder his ambition to bring unity to Pandaria. During his reign, Lei Shen made significant changes and contributions to Pandaria, with the Serpent's Spine construction often cited as his greatest achievement; this barrier separates the feared mantid from other Pandarian races. However, his resurrection by Zandalari mogu allies led him to another attempt at unifying mogu in patch 5.2, positioning him as the main antagonist. Nevertheless, a joint Shado-Pan, Alliance, and Horde attack on the Isle of Thunder ceased Lei Shen's rule permanently.
