Laurent Delvaux was a renowned Flemish sculptor born in Ghent in 1696, who later passed away on February 24, 1778, in Nivelles. He enjoyed an illustrious international career that took him to London and Rome before returning to the Austrian Netherlands where he served as the royal court's esteemed sculptor. Delvaux played a pivotal role in bridging the gap between the Baroque and Neo-classicism styles. Delvaux masterfully created a collection of twelve striking busts of Roman emperors, carefully placed within the Warandepark in Brussels. These captivating sculptures have been on permanent display since 1782, arranged artfully around a fountain carved from white marble. Each bust is uniquely rendered with intricate details, showcasing the emperors' armor in jasper-coloured marble. Although their faces have weathered significantly over time, it's believed that one of these pieces represents Caligula. This remarkable piece is part of "Scan The World," a groundbreaking non-profit initiative launched by MyMiniFactory.
