emergency shut off bump/switch
thingiverse
This is a critical emergency shutdown switch. I require an immediate mechanism for my wood chipper to shut off the motor in case of an emergency or when needed quickly. The entire assembly consists of four components: the body or box, the top, the plunger switch, and the plunger stop to prevent it from escaping the casing. There is a hole at the bottom of the plunger and the plunger stop for a self-tapping flat-headed screw that presses them together after inserting the plunger through the top. This design incorporates a dip switch as the electrical component; there are no pre-drilled holes for wiring, allowing you to drill wherever desired. The plunger is intentionally loose, so I applied blue painter's tape to provide friction and keep it in place. If you prefer to leave it loose, you can also use this setup as a buzzer button similar to those found on game shows. To ensure water tightness and heat protection, I wrapped the entire assembly in aluminum foil tape obtained from the 99c only store. If anyone wishes to modify the type of switch or prefers to do it themselves, please let me know, and I will upload the Sketchup file for reference. When printing, it is recommended that the plunger be printed with support on its head to minimize the number of supports required. The box's strength can be adjusted; my version was 10% infill, while the plunger had 15% and the top had 20%. Standard resolution or even low resolution is acceptable for printing.
