Emco V10p vice knob
thingiverse
My Emco V10p vise (Emco FB2) is incredibly frustrating to operate. It relies on a detachable wrench with a square head. The wrench's length prevents it from being freely spun 360 degrees, as it will inevitably hit the side of the lathe. Typically, you can grip the square shaft pincer-like by hand without the wrench and turn the vise by hand - this works wonderfully when the vise is spotless. However, tiny debris tends to get stuck in the vice thread and the shaft jams enough that you can't turn it. It then becomes a heart-wrenching process to insert the wrench, revolve 90 degrees, remove the wrench, struggle to find re-engagement with the square shaft, rotate 90 degrees, repeat ad nauseam until you scream in frustration. This bulky removable knob allows for quick setup time on the mill vise. However, do NOT use the plastic knob to tighten the vise, as it may break (you've been warned).
