The Aerobatic Demonstration Team (Esquadra de Demonstração Arérea) is commonly known as the Smoke Squadron (Esquadrilha da Fumaca), representing the Brazilian Air Force's aerobatic show team. The squad first took to the skies on May 14, 1952, performing over Copacabana beach with North American T-6 Texan aircraft. These T-6s served as the primary aircraft for the unit until they transitioned to French Arospatiale (Fouga) CM.170-2 Super Magister jets in 1968, branded as T-24 within the Brazilian Air Force fleet. Nevertheless, these jet planes struggled with the harsh Brazilian climate, leading the team back to its familiar T-6s in 1977 and keeping them until then.
