ELV MAX! Window Sensor Magnet Holding Clamp Dual Window Hack
thingiverse
These objects can be used to make the ELV MAX! window sensors more versatile and visually appealing. They clip around the window frame, holding tiny neodymium magnets that trigger the sensor, instead of the original large steel magnet. The clips will probably work with popular Homematic sensors too. Please leave a comment if you successfully tried it out! All you need are some 5x5x2mm Neodymium magnets to replace the large steel ones included in the sensor's retail package. I have two window frame sizes, 14mm and 16mm thick. If you need something different, go copy and modify it! The clamp has a structured mold on the window-facing side for applying glue. If the clamp fits correctly, it should stay in place without any glue too. And here's the clever part: by positioning the magnets close to the sensor's center, less than 2mm away from the case, one single sensor will report if either or both adjacent window panes are open, even though this is not officially documented. To achieve that, you need to position the left and right magnets in the same magnetic field orientation (simply put them on top of each other and then separate them without turning). You may need to invest some time trying different positions but once you get it right, one single sensor will save two installations for double-paned windows.
