Ellsworth Style Bowl Gouge Grinding Jig for Woodturning

Ellsworth Style Bowl Gouge Grinding Jig for Woodturning

thingiverse

This is a simple grinding jig designed in the Ellsworth style, tailored to fit a 5/8" Hurricane bowl gouge. To complete it, all you need to do is attach a threaded rod or cut bolt and add a thumb screw. I have multiple versions of this design available for printing, which allows users to create a round hole with a flat top that prevents the gouge from rotating. If the jig were made by hand using wood or aluminum, the gouge could potentially rotate in the hole, resulting in more metal being ground each time unless the angle is perfectly matched. This issue can be avoided by using this printed jig, which has helped me extend the lifespan of my gouges significantly.
