Ellora is a UNESCO World Heritage Site situated in Maharashtra's Aurangabad district, India. This impressive complex boasts some of the world's largest rock-cut monastery-temple cave systems, showcasing stunning Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain monuments and artwork from 600 to 1000 CE. Cave 16 stands out with the world's biggest single monolithic rock excavation - the Kailasha temple, a magnificent chariot-shaped monument dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Kailasha temple features intricate sculptures depicting gods, goddesses, and mythologies of Vaishnavism and Shaktism, as well as relief panels summarizing the two major Hindu epics. Over 100 caves are carved into the basalt cliffs of Charanandri Hills.
