Ellipse Generator Mechanism

The ellipse shape depends on the arm length (refer to the "scheme" image). The first gear (static blue sun) has 34 teeth, while the last (red planet) has half that amount at 17 teeth. The number of middle gear teeth only impacts the initial arm length (20 teeth in this case). This model was created using Solidworks 2015 and animated/rendered with Simlab Composer 6. Frames were edited in Virtualdub, saved as AVI/X264 and BMP formats. The video was then remuxed to MP4 using MyMP4BoxGui, and Gifs were made with GifApp. Renders were further edited with IrfanView, while the animation's SIM file is included. Additionally, the ZIM file can be viewed on IOS and Android devices using the free Simlab Viewer app. The model is available in multiple formats, including Solidworks 2015, Simlab SIM, STEP, IGES, STL, Parasolid, OBJ, 3D-PDF, SketchUp, 3DS, and ZIM.
