Update. First Attempt at Printing Fails. Project Wrecks as 3D Photo Layer Initiates. My project imploded right when I was about to get a glimpse of what it could look like once finished with all its features. The print started out fine, but the moment I switched on the layer for the picture, the whole operation ground to a halt. As I write this (1/14/15), there hasn't been any further experimentation in quite some time now. I still have high hopes though, and my main design collaborator Elliot remains optimistic about bringing the concept to life. One thing Elliot does well is take digital files and integrate them with tools from tinkercad – it was during this step that I managed to link a simple rectangle to display the title of our creation. Sadly, all attempts at getting this far only seemed to bring frustration. Once it hit print, however, disaster struck – yet again. Every single test so far has ended with disappointment, leading me to reassess what can be improved. I'll cut down the foundation layer and increase pauses in printing every 7th print (a step I still need more research on as this is my first foray into this particular domain).
