Elliott Sugar Mill Ruins
sketchfab
This model stems from a collaborative effort with the National Park Service's Southeast Archeological Center (SEAC- Dr. Margo Schwadron), where we conducted a terrestrial laser scanning survey of the Elliott Sugar Mill Complex (8VO160) and Environs as part of archeological research at the Canaveral National Seashore. Schwadron and SEAC have thoroughly examined this early 18th Century British period mill site and its associated plantation landscape. Historic sugar mill ruins and structures linked to the early Florida sugar industry are constructed from coquina and/or limerock and brick. All these stone and mortar constructions are extremely fragile, with coquina shell block construction in particular highly susceptible to deterioration caused by weathering and impacts to exposed surfaces.
