Elk Satellite Antenna Tripod Adapter
thingiverse
This is a 3D design of an adapter that will connect an Elk satellite antenna to a standard camera tripod. Designed in Freecad, the intent was to have a printed model that did not require supports. Orient the print in your slicer program so that the wide base is on the printing surface. The narrow end fits into the PVC pipe base of the antenna, and the wide bottom is screwed to the tripod's mounting plate. Although the mounting plate screw will thread itself into the adapter's base hole, I recommend taking out the stock screw and replacing it with a bolt long enough to pass through into the adapter's cavity so you can put a washer and nut to firmly secure the tripod mounting plate to the adapter. There is a small screw hole on the narrow end of the shaft. Measure the distance that this hole extends into the antenna base and drill a small hole in the PVC base to line up with the adapter's screw hole. Use an appropriate sheet metal screw to fasten the antenna base to the adapter. Watch this video to see how I set mine up: https://youtu.be/Eig3IGdCSno This is an experimental design intended for my own use. If you use this model you do so at your own risk, based on your own experience, your own print parameters and antenna configuration. Tripods vary and adding an antenna to a tripod may make it top-heavy and prone to tipping over. Use caution in choosing a tripod and adhere to all antenna guidelines.
