I'm excited to submit my design for the NASA RASSOR Drum Challenge. My creation was conceptualized in Solidworks and rendered in Keyshot, resulting in a unique assembly comprised of three distinct sections: two smaller outer drums and a larger drum in the center. This configuration allows the entire drum assembly to form one cohesive hollow shell, with the two end drums converging into a conical opening that leads directly into the middle drum. This innovative design will significantly enhance regolith retention and expedite discharge times, as most of the collected material will be funneled into the central drum. The middle drum features strategically placed ribs to bolster the assembly's structural integrity. Key specifications include: a maximum scope engagement width of 170mm; a total diameter of 450mm; and an overall length of 336mm. Additionally, my design boasts a total mass of 4.4kg when crafted from Aluminum Alloy, while its total drum volume approximates 47.542 liters. Moreover, I've achieved a fill ratio exceeding 70%.
