Elephant Coat Hanger
thingiverse
I based my replica on a scanned Elephant Coat Hanger, trying to replicate the original one from nadjacarlotti.com/pateres-en-porcelaine/. Unfortunately, that site no longer exists. To ensure my reproduction was durable, I decided to recreate it. My scan of the original Elephant Coat Hanger wasn't perfect due to distance and positioning issues. I remastered details in Sculptris to improve its quality. Then, I added a hole in the back using Meshmixer so it can be mounted on a wall with a bolt. Those software tools are absolutely incredible. Having more storage options at home is essential for handling my child's coats. To sum up, my process involves scanning the Elephant Coat Hanger with 123D catch and then importing only the OBJ file to isolate it from other objects in Meshmixer, where I add a hole behind. Next, I export that object to Sculptris to fine-tune details, which I later import back into Meshmixer for final adjustments before sending it to print as an STL.
