Eleni’s Hinge Box 6/22/2020 Designed by JWizard Thank you for choosing JWizard’s 3D Models and Designs! Eleni’s Hinge Box is a 3D Box design that closes with hinges. This box uses JWizard custom hinge routines. The hinge box prints as a single piece. Materials used to create model in photo: 3d Solutech Orange PLA filament Prusa Silver filament Idea’s: This design will work well with many size modifications uniformly on the x, y and z axis’s. This box design should also work well if you scale the y and z axis’s leaving the x axis unchanged. If you change the x axis, this will spread out the hinge and this is undesirable. This will leave gaps in your hinge. We attempted to print a box at 50% of the size and we were able to open it, however parts of it fused together. At 75% of the original size, the box printed out perfectly!. The limitation is the maximum size of what your printer allows. Another consideration is the use of supports for bridging. Typically bridging does not use supports. Using supports for bridging may be desirable in that it will make all sides of the box smooth on the interior. This is a slicer option if you elect to try this. For anyone who doesn’t know what bridging is, bridging is running the filament from one end point on the same level to another end point without anything below. This is like printing on air!
